Bon Voyage Familia!

Here is the last montage I edited together from clips I shot of friends and acquaintances skating at Familia's HQ in Minneapolis, Minnesota before I moved to Des Moines, Iowa to be with my wife in 2013. I hope you enjoy it!

Excuses Aside, I Must Apologize for the Delinquency of My Posts.

It has been quite the past two years and there have been a lot of changes in my life. I'm happy to say many of these new posts should catch you up to date with many of those changes...

Procession No.2(2012) - Aerosol on cement block.

First and foremost, I'll start with the long overdue picture of the finished Ruff Love Dogs doggy daycare mural from 2012.

Since that time the weather has not been all that kind to this wall with intense heat from the sun, the bone chilling cold of winter to the hard pounding rains penetrating the under surface of the painting, much of the right side of the mural had blistered and was peeling away.
I then received a call from the owner asking if I was available to repair the damage in which I replied I was so I made the 250 mile trip to Minneapolis from Des Moines and spent a week in June scraping and repainting. Approximately 50 hours over 7 days and the mural was finished. Here are some photos of the new and improved Ruff Love Dogs mural.

My Very First Aerosol Mural.

Procession - Aerosol on wooden fence.

The summer of 2010 a friend of mine approached me about painting a mural on a fence of his. Immediately I accepted his proposal since I never had(at that time) the opportunity to do something like this before.  The fence he asked me to paint was 6 feet high by a good 48 feet in length. Definitely the largest painting I've done so far. My friend didn't have the money to pay me for the work but he paid for the paint and I got keep what ever was left over plus his wife and he kept me fed while I worked.
I may have worked for peanuts but it was well worth the time and effort!

Update: A few weeks ago my friend sends me a text with a picture attached saying he finally had to put the mural out of it's misery with the pic showing a freshly painted drab gray fence. I wasn't at all surprised due to the fact that the mural hadn't faired well through the Minnesota elements and quite a bit of the mural was faded and flaking after only two seasons. I told him I was ready to paint something new in if he was down for it. "I'm in no hurry though..." he said, "I'm happy enough for now with the basement mural you painted last fall."
Yes, I'm sure he is!

Familia HQ: Filming Sessions 2012.

At times, I like to get out to do a little skateboarding...err...actually, I do quite a bit of skateboarding but at my age not nearly as much as I used to. So when I do get out it's usually with friends which gives me an excuse to pull out the 'ol video camera and film some skate action. Filming for me is just as fun as actual skateboarding because at the end of the day I might have something I can edit together into something fun to share with others.
These sessions took place at a local skate facility called, "Familia HQ" in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota over the course of three different days.
Features skating from Gregg Clover, Tyler Dunn, Dan "Hendo" Hendrickson, Alex Uncapher, Kevin Heger and Ricky Nunn.

Until next time...

Meandering In The Yard.

Sometimes when I'm out biking around I like to make my way to any one of the local train yards within the Twin Cities and feast upon the delicious eye candy adorning many of the trains and walls of buildings lining the tracks.

Here are a few flicks I took today while roaming along the tracks near Hiawatha Avenue in south Minneapolis.

Enjoy!

Ruff Love Dogs Daycare Mural Project Update April 16th.

Well my buddy Degas did it again and posted more photos for the Ruff Love mural and I have to take a moment to give him a big 'ol shout out for coming down during his busy schedule to shoot these awesome flicks...
Thanks Corey!!!

I've been bumming around doing other things these past few days since we in the Midwest have been experiencing some nasty weather and this morning there was snow, yes snow, a little slushy but snow none the less.  It didn't last long but I wouldn't want to be any farther north than we already are.
Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and sunny which means typically abnormal weather for this area thus far for 2012.

Ruff Love Mural Project.

This past Thursday I started work on an outdoor mural at a doggy daycare by the name of Ruff Love.  They're located in Nordeast Minneapolis near the Mississippi River in a small industrial area right down the road from Psycho Suzi's; a bar and eatery frequented by many locals and artisans.
A Photog buddy of mine is graciously shooting photos and video of the work which he'll be posting to his blog and I'll be reposting those links here of course!  I'm just too lazy to document this project myself.

Enjoy!

P.S. This is a preliminary sketch I've based the mural on.
